WSO is the first school in the UAE to achieve Unified Champion Status
WSO was the first school in the UAE to achieve the Unified Champion School status in 2019, by the Special Olympics UAE, thus setting a great example for inclusion.
The Academy was recognised for its inclusive culture and for specific events such as the GEMS Determination Cup, and our involvement in the Special Olympics opening ceremony, held in Abu Dhabi in March of the same year.
As such, Special Olympics UAE is today showcasing and sharing the Unified activities that are run in our school, the journey towards becoming a Unified Champion School, and what it means to be one, on its various media platforms.
The Unified Champion Schools programme was launched to further inclusion across all schools in the UAE and to make it an everyday reality for thousands of students of all abilities.
A Unified Champion school is a community of acceptance and inclusion, benchmarked through active participation in three core pillars; Youth Leadership, Unified Sports and Whole School Engagement.

International Day of Education
