Pathway 3
A-Level
A-levels is an opportunity to specialise in subjects at Post-16. Students choose A-levels because they are already clear about the tertiary pathway they wish to follow after graduation.
A-level programmes are content-heavy and are an excellent pathway for students wishing to gain a strong base in the subject or field they wish to specialise in once they move onto university. The content, similar to that of many first year university courses, is challenging and warrants the high entry requirements it demands. ‘Core’ subjects English, maths, physics, chemistry, biology, all require grade 7 or above at GCSE to study at A-level. Non-core subjects require grade 6 or above.
